The Pollutant Standard Index (PSI) readings recorded from all air quality monitoring stations (PM10) in the country's four districts were below 50 yesterday, stated a press release from the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation, the Ministry of Development.

At 4pm yesterday afternoon, the air quality for Brunei-Muara, Kuala Belait, Temburong and Tutong was good, where the recorded PSI readings were two, four, three and one respectively. PSI reading below 50 is considered good.

The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation will continue to closely monitor the air quality and, from time to time, provide updated information and advice through the local radio stations and television.

The public is urged to refrain from conducting any open burning activities that will worsen the hazy condition. In addition, the department will also continue to conduct ground surveillance on backyard and burning activities.

Members of the public can contact the department for any complaints on open burning through hotlines 8999900, 8837751 or 8837741, and queries on the air quality by calling 2383222 ext 514 during normal office hours.

The general public can also access and obtain PSI readings online at www.env.gov.bn and, for more information on health guidelines, visit the website www.moh.gov.bn.
