"It's a nightmare," Mr Yeo Tiong Seng exclaimed after a sudden heavy downpour caused water to enter his house compound and nearly flooded it were it not for the two- foot brick wall across his front door.

The 67-year-old's domicile is one of eight houses situated on Simpang 382, Kg Belimbing. Subok is a flood prone area. Yesterday's heavy downpour caused a familiar scene and heartache. The junction leading to the eight families' houses was flooded. Fire and police personnel were on the scene.

Mr Yeo's son Yeo Kuan Teck said," we get ready every time the rain starts to pour. Sometime we can't even sleep at night when it has started raining."

The drainage near the houses was turned into a fast flowing river yesterday.

Mr Yeo recalled " since 1998, we experienced flooding and it was not only once a year but numerous times. We have to build a one-foot wall in front of our door step to prevent flood water from coming in. However, sometimes the flood water rises higher and enters our house."

One neighbour who is so used to the flooding said that they use sand bags to barricade their gate to prevent water from seeping into their compound.

Mr Yeo and his family hope that the relevant authorities can act as soon as possible to help the small community of Simpang 382.
