Day of Action - Tree Planting at National Service Programme (PKBN)

 

Day of Action (‘Kempen Hari Bertindak’) was organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in conjunction with the International Volunteer Day (‘Hari Sukarelawan Antarabangsa’) celebration every 5th of December, which is an international observance mandated by the UN General Assembly since 1985. This provides a platform for different levels of society to promote the act of volunteerism, encourage governments to support such efforts and recognize the contributions towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals at local, national and international levels.

For Brunei Darussalam, the objective was to round up government agencies, private sector and NGOs in conducting volunteerism works at four districts at once, guided by seven (7) program clusters: Humanity & Society, Environment, Education & Training, Religious, Social Entrepreneurship, Sports & Health, and Arts.

The Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation was invited to conduct a tree-planting activity in conjunction with the opening ceremony of the Day of Action 2020 at the PKBN Training Camp in Temburong District on the 6th of December. The ceremony and tree-planting was officiated by Yang Berhormat Major General (R) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok bin Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.
